Ryan B. Hendey

I have been serving the people of Indianapolis for 11 years. To be able to determine the culture and period of the piece, as well as its condition, is critical to restoring the piece properly.

My love for this drives me to bring my research, experience, and skill to each piece. I want my work to trigger treasured memories and emotions. I want your piece to make you smile.

Testimonials

As the owner of some treasured antiques passed on to me from four to five generations, I have been extremely impressed by the skill which has been so successfully applied to each piece I have entrusted to Ryan Hendey for Restoration.  His work is beyond superb. He has returned furniture to me that looks like the original while retaining some imperfections the pieces have experienced over time. Ryan refinishes each piece inside and out.  It is my opinion that the talent this young man possesses is almost lost in today’s modern world, but he still has it big time.

Ryan did an awesome refinishing and repair job on my late husband’s Aunt’s 1920 dresser.  The dresser had several different types of wood and inlay.  After the incredible work Ryan had done on a couple of other pieces, I was not worried about having him repair and refinish this very sentimental piece.  It was amazing how beautifully it turned out.  Ryan did an incredible job reconstructing a bottom portion of the dresser.  I would recommend Ryan, who worked diligently on the piece, in a heartbeat. This was no overnight job! Patience was a must and his work exemplified the TLC he put into the project.

GREAT GRANDMA’S TABLE

My youngest memories of my grandma are riding my bike to her home, walking in and kissing her on the cheek, immediately going to the kitchen and reaching into her cookie jar! It was always full and waiting.

Sitting at my Grandma’s table I would watch her mix any number of delicious desserts and we always got to lick the beaters! She sat in her place to peal potatoes, carrots, apples, stir and mix for the over 30 years. I got to sit with her and watch and learn and hear stories of her life and laugh.

The most remarkable and memorable part of this table is the visible wear marks her arms have left from all those years.

After we’d used the table for another 25 years, my daughter, her great granddaughter, valiantly attempted to refinish it, after it had developed two cracks in the seams on the surface. The cracks re-asserted and it looked hopeless.

This is when Ryan told us that he could fix it – and he did! He took the whole table apart, fixed the seams, and then he painstakingly put it together.  Then he found a finish that our son’s latex and plastic allergies wouldn’t react to.

His attention to detail and care for our situation was remarkable. That’s why we highly recommend his refinishing.

Having Ryan work on this table has been a wonderful experience, but the wear marks are still there keeping my memories intact.
